How many of you had trouble getting or keeping jobs because of JW schedule?

before i acquired a skill, i worked retail.

like many jobs that work non-traditional hours, when you apply for a job in retail or a restaurant or something, you have to tell them what hours you are available to work.

now most people looking for a job, unless they are in school or something, are available to work whenever the job requires.

Yes! When I put Bethel on my resume, it allows people to discriminate without me knowing. The one job I finally got, the interviewer told me he had experiences, and I would be expected to work and respect people's privacy. I assured him that was no problem, but asked him why was it brought up. And every witness that worked for him were preachy, always taking off for programs, and anytime anyone was sad, they would be flooded with magazines/tracts. So he and his boss weren't big fans. I was still in, but I wanted to give dubs a good name, so I acted like a normal human. And the boss still tells me to this day to use him as a reference, which I have...

BTW. He was a born again.

apparently, some community leaders and local citizen folks decided enough is enough and took matters into their own hands to attack a watchtower religion of jehovah's witnesses.

Mob mentality is more propoganda than an actual cause. Their claims against JW's were wrong. Suicide is never encouraged, especially to children. If suicide was a requirement to JW's, THERE WOULD BE NONE! This is propogandic zealots not knowing what they are fighting for...

They had the teachings all wrong. Maybe there was some truths to what those being interviewed stated, but I don't see the reconcilitation. This will only strengthen the JW mentality of "lies and half-truths".

Watching this made me upset. I'm not ok with physical mob violence... In the hall I grew up in, not too many of the young guys were wrapped too tight. The prostestors would've been calling the cops.

But I would like to know how did JW's contribute to child suicides....

A Point To Ponder....

i've viewed several videos of judicial committees formed against so-called "apostates", and i still vividly remember my own jc on charges of apostasy.

a common thread that is obvious is that the accused always tries to state his or her case, while the attending stepford elders pretend to listen and then continue on with watchtower propaganda.. and it hit me:.

often times the accused will present a logic that is difficult for the three elders to answer; as a result the three will bumble through it for a minute or two before someone regains "composure"and responds with a watchtower response.. is the prescribed presence of three elders a "safety feature" to ensure that any one elder doesn't get derailed from watchtower propaganda?.

I have to disagree on this one. I think it was designed to prevent stalemate judgements between 2 elders. There can always be a majority vote.

The side effects are just extra blessings on the arrangement!

Intro/fellow abuse survivor

im new to the site, as my username implies i am an abuse survivor, it was more then sexual, it was a very horrific type of abuse and no surprise the jw's that were involved were and still are being protected.

i have found posts here to be encouraging and glad to see i am not alone in my struggle and my fight.. i have a constant struggle/battle with emotional and mental health issues from the many many years of abuse but i am a fighter and try to keep on going, but am so glad to have found this site, it seems to be a source of encouragement :).

(Matthew 24:45-47) 45 “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his masterappointed over hisdomestics, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. 47 Truly I say to YOU, He will appoint him over all hisbelongings.

1) Looking at the scripture itself, the domestics are spoken of in plural, which makes sense because there would be a group of people being fed.

The master is spoken of in singular form, which would make sense because Jesus is the lone leader of the congregation.

The slave is also spoken of in singular, but somehow it's used to describe a group of previously 12,000, but now 8? How inconsistent is that? I think Russell's teaching made more sense on the matter, with him alone being that slave. At least there was fluidity...

2) This is a double whammy because GB teaches 144,000 is a literal number because the "one Lamb" mentioned is a fixed number, so the scripture has to be consistent.

Question - Did the death of Jaracz and/or Barr get start this thinking? Or have they been thinking this and Barr and/or Jaracz quieted such thoughts, and since he died, they went along with it?

I believe Ray Franz stated it usually took new light a few years in the works to become official, so that's what got me thinking. Anyway, Gerrit Loesch is the new senior member of the GB, and the most opinionated. I wouldn't put it past him to have have campaigned this teaching...
